Frequently asked questions
How does BNS escrow protect my money?
When you pay on BNS, your money is held in escrow and is not released to the seller yet. The seller ships or hands over the item, you inspect it, and you confirm receipt. Only then is the money released. If the item never arrives or is not as described, you can raise a dispute before confirming receipt and your payment stays protected.
When is money released to the seller?
Funds are released to the seller as soon as you confirm receipt and satisfaction with the item. If an order is marked as shipped and you do not confirm within 72 hours, the order auto-releases to the seller, so confirm receipt promptly once you are happy with the item.
How much does BNS charge in fees?
Sellers on the Free plan pay a 2.5% platform fee per sale, capped at ₦100,000 per sale. Sellers on the Pro plan pay a 1.0% platform fee, capped at ₦50,000 per sale. The fee is taken when funds are released to the seller.
How do I withdraw money from my BNS wallet?
Open your wallet, choose Withdraw, and enter an amount of at least ₦1,000. You will be asked to confirm the withdrawal with a one-time password (OTP) sent to you. Once confirmed, the withdrawal is processed to your linked bank account.
What is the BNS Pro plan and how do I get it?
Pro is a seller subscription that lowers your per-sale platform fee from 2.5% to 1.0%. A one-time ₦5,000 activation gives you 30 days of Pro. After that, Pro renews at ₦5,000 per month or ₦55,000 per year.
How do I list an item for sale on BNS?
Create an account, open Sell, and fill in your item title, category, condition, price, description, and clear photos. Your listing goes live once published and can be found in its category and in search.
How do I create a verified account?
Sign up with your email and confirm your email address through the verification link we send you. A complete, verified profile helps buyers trust you and is required to sell on a BNS storefront.
How do I report a fraudulent listing or user?
Open the listing or the chat, use the report option, and describe the problem. Our Trust & Safety team reviews reports and can remove listings or suspend accounts that break the rules. If money is already in escrow, raise a dispute on the order instead.
What is the Buyer Protection Policy?
If you pay through BNS escrow and the item does not arrive, is damaged, or is not as described, you can raise a dispute before you confirm receipt. Your payment stays in escrow while the dispute is reviewed, so you are not paying for an item you did not receive as agreed.
How do I track my delivery?
Once a seller marks your order as shipped, the order status updates to Shipped on your My Orders page. You can also message the seller directly in chat for courier and tracking details. Your order auto-releases 72 hours after it is marked shipped if you have not confirmed receipt.
What is the item inspection period?
Inspect the item as soon as you receive it, before you confirm receipt. Your payment is still held in escrow during this time. Confirm receipt only once the item matches the listing. If something is wrong, raise a dispute instead of confirming.
How do I meet a buyer or seller safely in person?
Meet in a public, well-lit place during the day, such as a shopping mall with security, a busy bank lobby, a fuel station on a major road, or a popular fast-food restaurant. Inspect the item before you hand over anything, and never share your OTP or login details with anyone claiming to be from BNS support.
Can I pay a seller by direct bank transfer instead of escrow?
No. Keep your payment inside BNS escrow. Direct bank transfer or cash paid before you have seen and inspected the item is not covered by Buyer Protection, and you have no recourse if the seller disappears.
